IC-ionIC: simple, environmentally friendly and safe to use for humans and animals.

IC-ionIC is a system that was developed together with Baumgartner Environics, Inc. from the USA. The system uses the so-called. EPI-system (Electrostatic Particulate Ionisation).

The IC-ionIC system removes particles of dust from the air. The system fills the room in the house with a negative charge. The negative ions this creates attract the floating dust particles and cause them to 'stick' to the earthed surfaces. The advantage of ionising is that it tackles the problem of dust right at the source. This approach not only reduces the fine dust emission, it also improves the air quality at the same time. The system reduces the concentration of fine dust by 49%- which is a massive improvement for both the animals and the people caring for them.

Ionisation lines with electrodes

As well as a power supply - located outside the room with the animals - the IC-ionIC system consists of various ionisation lines running over the length of the house. The lines have a high number of needle-like electrodes which emit the electrons. The ionisation lines are fed by a high voltage supply (30 kV direct voltage). To guarantee safety, the power supply is limited to a maximum of 2.0 mA.

By installing the ionisation lines close to the ceiling, the entire surface of the ceiling can act as a collector plate. Where this is not possible, earthed collector plates should be mounted. The charged dust particles are attracted by the ceiling, the earthed plates, the walls and the equipment in the house.

Ionisation in pig houses

Tests performed by Baumgartner Environics, at the biggest pig farm in the world - Murphy Brown LLC- show the following remarkable results.

Thanks to the consistent and reproducible results, Murphy Brown called this ionisation system a “must have” technique.*

These positive results have prompted us to run trials of the IC-ionIC system in pig houses in the Netherlands in cooperation with VIC Sterksel and a pig farm. Because:

Minimum operational costs

The costs for the IC-ionIC system are virtually limited to the investment costs. The operational costs can be compared with the cost of a light bulb of approximately 90 Watt, so are practically negligible. The actual investment costs depend on the length and width of the house. The system is very low maintenance and requires hardly any extra labour.

The system is installed by an installer from Inter Continental BV so as to safeguard optimal functioning and sufficient earthing of the system.
